Who knows what tomorrow really brings? You can plan your life and not live one day. Why not have fun while your still young?
Well the answer is you can have fun and if you stay focused it can be for a long time. I thought for sure I was going to be overweight and bald by the time I was 45. I was half right. (the bald part).
But I’m actually in good shape for a 45 year old asthmatic. Before I started my fitness journey my ideal day was spent writing some music and watching science fiction films, eating an entire pizza and drinking some good beer. That was about 15 years ago and looking back I was in terrible shape for 30. I never thought about my future and what my lifestyle was leading me to.
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s my dad was a hard working guy, and even now at 75 he still puts in time at work , not because he needs to but because he likes to.
My dad was the hard working kind that would spend long days at work and be gone on Saturdays to catch up for the week. What message did I get from this guy? Work hard , save your money , stay focused, help others, stay healthy, and have fun.
Well when my son and I started Martial arts training 11 years ago , I was thinking the same thing. My son was 5 and doing the tiny tigers class at the local martial arts place down the street. Bill, the instructor would heckle me and say “C’mon sir, you can do this” and then lead the class in cartwheels. CARTWHEELS!!! I cant do that!
